Already 41.6 million vehicles have been recalled over faulty Takata airbags in the six years since reports started popping up of people being injured or killed in accidents involving the malfunctioning safety devices. Yet, we continue to see problems related to the airbags, which can explode and send shrapnel hurtling into the air when deployed.

Remember the Hummer? The behemoth, military-inspired sport utility vehicles roared to popularity in the late 90s and early aughts only to go out with a whimper about a decade later. General Motors wound down the brand in 2010, as the Hummer became a symbol of lots of the things some folks found wrong with American consumerism, the auto industry and the country’s approach to climate change. Less than 10 years later, it turns out the Hummer could be coming back to life.
